FOR COBOURG COUNCIL

WHY I AM RUNNING
I have had both family and friends ask me this question. Many see politics as an "ugly business".
I see it as a chance to bring a lifetime of municipal experience to our Council. I would like to think I have seen and heard a lot and I would like to think I have learned a lot in my many years working for various large cities and smaller communities.
I believe there is no better place to live than Cobourg. It has the hallmarks of everything that makes a community exceptional. Our town is made up of an amalgam of families, friends and neighbours who care about this community and want to be a part of every aspect of its vitality.
I have learned that leadership is not always taking the popular stand. It is about taking the right stand for the long term benefits. It is about being able to balance teamwork and decisive leadership qualities that bring to bear successful strategic outcomes.
I have had years of managing multi-million dollar projects and budgets. As the steward of these ventures, I knew that I was entrusted with the public's resources and I always took that responsibility as a sacred trust. In seeking a seat on Town Council, I believe I will bring my experiences to benefit a long term vision for our collective future.
It is a future shaped by sustainable growth and development, by economic advancement based on measurable metrics, and working with the federal and provincial governments to create housing opportunities through ownership or rent that allow our children and grandchildren to get their deserved chance on the rung of the property ladder.
As a Council, we need to lead by civility when possible. We should not always agree but differences should be based on differing opinions rather than differing personalities. In my working life I have tried to be a "Bridge Builder" whenever possible. Though I know every decision I may make at Council may not suit everyone, I can say with complete honesty it will be based on the best decisions I can bring to every vote.
I could not be more humble or more proud to seek your vote to be a member of Cobourg Town Council.
I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can and hearing from you directly what matters most to you and answering your questions on any issues you may have.
